How Invisalign® Can Fix Gaps in Your Teeth

You’re not stuck with spaces between your teeth. To deliver the smile of your dreams, Invisalign® can close those gaps with aligners that are virtually invisible.

People with gaps between their teeth used to face a dilemma: Do you live with the spaces between your teeth or do you spend months — or potentially years — with a mouthful of metal?

Fortunately, things have changed. Thanks to Invisalign®Aishwarya Kumar, DDS, and our team at Aqua Dentistry can fix your gapped teeth. Using these clear, comfortable aligners, we can gently but reliably move your teeth closer together, helping you reach your smile goals. Plus, we can do all of this from our office in San Jose, California.

What Invisalign does for gaps in teeth

When you choose Invisalign, Dr. Kumar starts by taking a 3D digital scan of your teeth. This allows us to start the process of creating your custom series of Invisalign aligners.

The first set of these personalized, clear aligners is shaped to fit over your teeth as they are now. To precisely match your gum line, giving you the least noticeable fit possible, we trim the aligners specifically for your mouth.

You wear the aligners for one or two weeks, depending on what Dr. Kumar recommends. During that time, they gently nudge your teeth closer together.

When it’s time, you swap out your first aligners for the next set in your series. Those second aligners move your teeth even closer together. You then swap them for the third aligners in your series, and rinse and repeat.

By the time you finish wearing your last set of Invisalign aligners, the gaps in your teeth should be gone. You’ll have eliminated the spaces in your smile without a single metal bracket or wire.

What to expect with Invisalign

Because Invisalign means using clear aligners rather than braces cemented to your teeth, they’re removable. You only need to wear them for 20 to 22 hours a day, which means you can take them out when you eat, give a presentation, play sports, or whenever else you want. Just make sure you brush your teeth after eating before you put your aligners back in.

What’s more, because we create your whole series of aligners, you never need to come to our office to have them adjusted. While we will have periodic check-in visits, you can expect significantly fewer trips to the dentist than you would have with traditional braces.

Most people get a gap-free smile in somewhere between six months and two years
